Manufacturing Team Lead 
Irvine, CA 
Permanent Position 


Hours: 2nd SHIFT (2:30pm- 11:30pm)

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for monitoring the safety, quality, delivery and cost of the value stream.  Maintain and manage value stream by key performance indicators to improve quality and drive down cost while meeting delivery.   Determine scheduling and staffing of an area with 3-15 employees.  Responsible for employee's adherence to standard work, employee performance management, employee disciplinary action, process audits, maintain high 5S standards, all while driving the company's ICAIR (Integrity, Commitment, Accountability, Innovation and Respect) culture.  This person will be responsible for maintaining daily detailed records on value streams' LDM board such as lost time injuries, quality defects, plan vs actual, and department's productivity.  Make and utilize pareto charts for problem solving and value stream performance improvements.  Drive LEAN activities to eliminate wastes.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
  • This position reports to the production supervisor or Director of Operations.
 
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Coach, mentor and train associates while driving our culture and our ICAIR values
  • Monitor value stream for adherence to standard work instructions, plan daily, weekly schedule to meet staffing needs.  Help resolve problems on the line.
  • Ensure all SOPs and standard work instructions for the value stream are followed. Team leads have the authority to modify/ change SOPs to support business objectives.
  • Coach, mentor and train associates while driving our culture and our ICAIR values
  • Observing the process to look for wastes and inefficiencies. Use one's own discretion to alter processes for improvement.  
  • Schedule and staff value stream to meet delivery targets
  • Lead daily team stand ups at LDM board reviewing previous days' metrics and problems
  • Participate in LEAN activities such as Kaizen events to drive wastes from process
 
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform other duties as assigned; participate in Lean principles/Kaizen events.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior supervisory experience required
 
REQUIRED
  • Previous supervisory experience of between 5-15 associates
  • Experience with writing performance reviews and coaching associates including but not limited to delivering disciplinary actions
  • Ability to read, write, and speak well in English
  • Ability to follow written and general instructions without variation, with attention to detail
  • Perform assignments with limited supervision
  • Novice skill level for MS Excel
  • Flexibility in work hours and overtime mandatory when assigned
  • Knowledge of personal computer operating systems and software
  • Previous assembly or manufacturing relevant work experience
 
PREFERRED
  • Hands on LEAN experience, RIE, Kaizens, 5S, Kanban, etc.
