Mechanical Design Engineer II to work in Troy, Michigan: Research and analyze customers design requirements, specifications and manuals in automotive industry. Evaluate the feasibility and basic cost of design or application. Create 3D models, assemble drawings and component drawings of product designs. Perform thermal, vibration, stress, and tolerance analysis on designs to determine the theoretical capability. Analyze the mechanical design to reduce cost or design complexity. Perform analysis as design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA) to identify and assess design and manufacturing risks. Create specification and 2D prints with GD&T for plastic injection molded parts. Create Bill of Material (BOM) on customer's Request for Quote (RFQ). Track issues and coordinate internal meetings and provide updates on programs. Assist in resolving issues. Design and build prototypes. Research supplier process, place orders, and coordinate delivery. Communicate and consult with parent company when issues arise. Use CAD. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Automotive Engineering (or equivalent based on evaluation of academic credentials, training and/or experience) as well as twelve (12) months in job or job related experience in automotive industry to include analyze the mechanical design to reduce cost or design complexity; track issues and coordinate internal meetings and provide updates on programs; assist in resolving issues; communicate and consult with parent company when issues arise.
