Network Engineer

Job Description

Our client is looking to bring an experienced Network Engineer on to their team. This person will have a large impact on designing and deploying the network for an enterprise environment. Our client is currently on a TSA after a split off and is still being supported by their counterparts technology. This resource will play an integral part in a network swap from their counterpart. Our client plans to implement Meraki soon in order to utilize web based and portal based technology. Our client intends to grow their IT presence in Greensboro and are actively building out a team after bringing on a few resource from their counterpart and are still leveraging those relationships to run IT operations.

Client Job Description:

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for leading the proactive administration of the network (LAN/WAN) and security (Firewalls, IDS/IPS, NAC, etc) for Centric Brands. This includes the configuration, installation, deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting of network services, resolving outages and documenting designs, processes and procedures. This position will be involved with global enterprise projects and design. Also included are architecture, R&D, capacity and performance analysis, configuration, change and release management, availability trending and reporting across these systems and services.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
Plan and implement all aspects of the network infrastructure to support data, voice, video and security
Define, document, and enforce established network and security policy standards
Work with vendors on network design upgrades, investigate new technologies and be involved with Information Security and Disaster recovery testing
Respond to Help Desk ticket requests requiring additional technical support on issues such as network connectivity and related local area network issues
Establish a sound and stable networking environment by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, and scheduling upgrades
Create and add content to a knowledge base by documenting issues and the causes and fixes for those issues
Work in conjunction with other IT departments to securely plan, deploy, design and troubleshoot issues and implement new functions
Provide networking and security architectural and engineering support experience across local, regional and global areas
Recommend and evaluate new technologies
Manage communication and coordination of resources during outage situations, guide engineers from different groups to work together to resolve outages and restore business functionality as quickly as possible
Provide leadership to junior engineers and network operations team
Some travel may be required
Ability and availability to work occasional nights/weekends assignments as necessary
Skills And Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience
8 plus years managing enterprise networks
5 plus years of data center design
CCNP Certification Preferred
CCIE Routing and Switching certification is a plus
Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
Cisco Routers/Switches, Cisco ASA/NGFW, Cisco Call Manager, Meraki, F5 Load Balancers
In depth understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies such as BGP/EIGRP/OSPF, Spanning Tree, DNS/DHCP, VOIP, QoS, etc
WAN topologies such as MPLS, DMVPN, SD-WAN
Design and implementation of Azure network solutions utilizing Network Security Gateways, Virtual Firewalls and other virtual networking/security appliances
Network monitoring and troubleshooting
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment to ensure performance, reliability and security in a dynamic 24-7-365 production network environment
