Network Technician

Compensation: DOE

RHT is seeking a Network Technician. The Network Technician will be responsible to:
Provide onsite support and maintenance to customer LAN/WAN environments, including hardware
and software for desktop, server, and system level support;
Able to take on advanced PC and basic engineering projects as needed;
Ensures customer satisfaction by responding to Service Requests in a timely, accurate, and
professional manner;
Follows up with customers with call or service request status when status changes (e.g. will be
delayed);
Initiates escalation as deemed appropriate to ensure management awareness of severe problems or
calls that are exceeding documented target resolution times;
Assists in customer, analyst, and peer training;
Advanced knowledge of all Customer standard products as defined per engagement;
General knowledge of all non-standard but commonly used products;
Thoroughly evaluate and document client’s IT infrastructure, including network maps,
hardware/software configurations, and IT processes;
Develop and write basic level Statements of Work for inclusion with product quotes or for
independent services opportunities;
May be called upon to provide Pre-Sales support and position various technical solutions;
Product recommendation: Properly evaluate customer requirements in order to recommend specific
products to solve customer business needs;
Thoroughly document customer engagements for proper accounting of activity;
Logs all customer requests and updates calls utilizing the designated call handling and tracking
system;
Maintain and increase technical certifications based upon certification requirement changes and
business market requirements;
Maintain strategic relationships with Manufacturers such as, but not limited to: Microsoft, Novell, HP,
Cisco;
Follow policies and procedures in place and participate in continual process improvement to ensure
quality and efficiency;
Additional tasks as deemed necessary by manager to meet business requirements.

Job Requirements

The successful Network Technician will have a Net + certification preferred.
Minimum 3 years experience in IT technology preferred
Minimum 3 years experience in Troubleshoot and Repair preferred
Minimum 2 years direct experience with Microsoft, Novell, and/or WAN technologies preferred

Experience with:
Network documentation;
Servers/switches/backup troubleshooting;
Network + Certification Preferred;
Understanding of RAID;
VLAN/WAN;
Virtual environments;
Desired skills and abilities;
Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills;
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities;
Must use sound judgment and escalate issues in a timely manner;
Solid verbal and writing abilities
Industry knowledge
Drive to excel and succeed
Must be willing to work long hours and available for after hours work as needed

Knowledge / Training and Certifications
Microsoft (MCP/MCSE), Mac, Linux, Novell knowledge/certifications preferred
Windows Server 2000, 2003, SBS, Exchange 2000 & 2007, SQL preferred
Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Mac OS X preferred
