Purpose of Job
This position will require a Packaging Engineer to develop and procure packaging for Tier 1 automotive components including: racks, dunnage, returnable containers, and corrugated for U.S. and Mexico locations. Plan, direct, and coordinate packaging projects to ensure that objectives are accomplished within specified cost, quality, and timing parameters. A key focus will be on identifying and driving savings opportunities within the network. This position will also involve Logistics and Distribution responsibilities including planning / coordination of logistics, new route set ups, load optimization, carrier management, tracking and tracing expedited shipments. This position will also monitor warehousing efficiencies (internal and 3rd party) and support in short- and long-term warehousing strategy amongst the NSNA supply chain.

•Develop packaging to ensure product safety and efficiencies, both in logistics and handling of goods throughout the NSNA Supply Chain.
•Identify and implement cost saving initiatives related to packaging materials, labor, efficiency, and storage.
•Analyze existing operations and propose continuous improvements
•Assist with Logistics and Distribution tasks
•Coordinate with logistics providers to set up new routes
•Manufacturing claims (damage/loss) against carriers, lead problem resolution between logistics supplier and internal/external customers, etc.
•Manage external warehousing operations, target inventory levels, and streamlining operations
•Monitors Logistics and Distribution KPIs (Logistics Spend, Expedite expense, OTIF, etc). and implement
•corrective actions when necessary to achieve organizational objectives and targets.
•Conduct cost analysis proposals to locate efficiency opportunities amongst the NSNA Supply Chain as Logistics
•and Distribution Manager in costing analysis proposals, logistics budgeting, etc.
Education, Experience and Knowledge
Required and/or preferred level of education, knowledge and skills that are necessary.Education
•Bachelors Degree in Packaging, Engineering or related field
•2 + years of experience in automotive package engineering
•Work requires critical thinking using logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
•Work requires the ability to organize, plan, and complete multiple tasks in a timely matter
•Work requires strong customer service skills.
•Work requires strong oral and written communication skills
•Work requires Microsoft Office knowledge; Intermediate levels of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
•Work requires working knowledge and experience with ERP systems
•Work requires strong analytical skills (i.e. customer and/or supplier release analysis).
•Able to accommodate calls during off-hours and weekends to ensure issues are resolved.
•Work requires knowledge of current supply chain management techniques and processes. Special Training or Competency

Work HoursMonday-Friday, 8 am – 5pm. Off-hours as needed.Travel Requirements
