Plant Engineering I.T. Associate

Job Description

Are you looking to expand your career horizons? UPS is seeking an Applications Developer to be part of a development and support team at UPS. This position provides the opportunity to work in a diverse environment and coordinate with internal information technology (IT) groups that support infrastructure (e.g. security, database, web servers etc.); develop software enhancements and perform system troubleshooting and testing; document requirements for system enhancements; provide day-to-day support for Maximo applications and BIRT Report Development.

The Applications Developer supports programming, testing, and analysis duties and tasks. He/She performs tasks within planned durations to meet established deadlines. This position provides coding, testing, and/or analysis for basic applications. He/She collaborates with teams to ensure effective communications and to support the achievement of objectives. This position provides support for applications and business functions. He/She contributes to the identification and reporting of defects in work products. This position assists with documentation (e.g., requirements, test and defect data, variances, problem resolution, etc.). The Applications Developer is responsible for all phases of application development for components comprising web technologies. The ideal candidate must have initiative, be a self-motivated learner, and a team player.

This position is open for two locations: Atlanta (Sandy Springs), GA and Mahwah, NJ

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Analyzes, designs, codes, tests, and documents low to moderately complex programs to develop application software
  • Prepares weekly and monthly reporting for executive review
  • Performs applications maintenance and support functions to support problem resolution
  • Provides assistance on application functionality questions, configurations, and enhancements
  • Reviews material to ensure compliance before posting to internal website
  • Assembles database queries and designs reports for reliability
  • Participates in UPS company activities (e.g., clubs, committees, etc.) to foster personal and professional development and to enhance professional marketability

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient in ASP.NET (C#/VB.NET) Programming, Python, JavaScript, SQL and HTML5
  • Knowledge in SDLC process and development experience using ASP.NET, JavaScript, SQL, HTML
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access and Word)
  • Strong organizational, communication (verbal/written) and relationship skill
  • Familiar with I.T. application technical standards and methodologies
  • Strong analysis skills 
  • Detail oriented
  • BIRT experience - Preferred
