Direct placement


Pay Rate 80-110k DOE


Primary Role Performed:

  • Review customer inquiries, prepare proposals, design “oil field" process equipment packages, and perform Engineering tasks during project execution.


Primary Activities:

  • Evaluate customer inquiries and specifications and select or recommend process or equipment designs for the application.
  • Review Customer specifications, and design equipment to match specifications or clearly define differences (clarifications or exceptions list) to Customer.
  • Perform complex process simulations (ChemCAD or other tools that we may use).
  • Create / review / comment on complex PFD’s and P&ID’s.
  • Recommend, specify and requisition major buy-out equipment items such as valves, instruments and pumps.
  • Perform equipment process design and mechanical design.
  • Perform line sizing calculations.
  • Participate in client HAZOP and internal HAZOP.
  • Generate Control Narrative and Control Philosophy documents
  • Produce Installation, Operating (Start-up and Shut-down) and Maintenance Instruction manuals, including lists for Consumables, Special Tools, Lubricants, and Utilities.
  • Prepare instructions for Long Term Storage of equipment.
  • Perform final review of Project Job Manuals.
  • Develop equipment data sheets and estimate equipment weights.
  • Develop “deliverables" for cost estimating, design engineering, and drafting.
  • Coordinate and review the estimating activities of the various departments involved with the proposal to prepare the cost estimate.
  • Submit technical proposals that include a clear definition of the scope of supply, equipment performance, warranty, and delivery. 
  • Present the proposal in a way that positively enhances position to receive the order.
  • Confirm compliance with the customer’s purchase order regarding the proposal technical and process requirements.
  • Provide technical support for trouble shooting.
  • Perform on-site start-up and / or trouble shooting.
  • Assist Logistics with developing import and export documentation for systems and products.

 

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering, with 5 - 10 years’ experience in the design and selection of process equipment for the Oil and Gas Industry; or Master of Science degree in Chemical, Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering with 2 – 6 years’ experience in the design and selection of process equipment for the Oil and Gas Industry; or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of national and international codes and standards for oil field process equipment design, shop fabrication procedures, inspection and NDE requirements, shipping preparation and terms, and field installation and start-up procedures.
  • Competent in process equipment design and sizing.
  • Experience / skill with multidiscipline project engineering functions.

 

Skills Requirements:

  • Ability to size process equipment to meet design criteria.
  • Ability to produce PFD’s and P&ID’s.
  • Ability to utilize ChemCAD or similar for process simulation.
  • Ability to size lines.
  • Knowledge of some materials of construction and their application.
  • Familiar with ASME Section VIII, Division 1 and 2 and ASME B31.3.
  • Familiar with applicable API guidelines.
  • Ability to convey mechanical design details to drafting personnel for the preparation of fabrication and layout drawings considering operability, maintenance and safety.
  • Ability to verify vessel designs from perspectives of cost, fabrication, operation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to educate Customers on the advantages of equipment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with various company departments associated with designing, estimating, fabricating, operating, and selling this equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with some supervision.
  • Ability to utilize Word, Excel, PowerPoint and engineering design programs.



People Contact:

  • Works closely with team members, other Engineering Departments and Estimating Department to develop proposals and equipment fabrication details.
  • Works with company sales department and Customers to facilitate orders.
  • Works with drafters, and other engineering departments in project execution to ensure work is carried out within project specifications.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Project Scheduler to develop the Project Schedule.
