Quality Engineer (Aerospace/Defense)

Job Description

.Acara Solutions (formerly Superior Group) is helping our Niagara Falls client find a Quality Engineer to join their organization as a salaried direct employee. The Quality Assurance Engineer supports the quality manager in developing, implementing, and managing quality control systems to ensure continuous production and consistency with established standards. Champion environmental standards with regulatory agencies and AS9100 standards/audits. The position is very hands-on and works frequently on the floor with a team of quality control inspectors.
  • Help develop, implement and maintain procedures to ensure a high level of internal quality assurance standards of heat exchanger units.
  • Provide quality assurance expertise in the areas of tooling, prints, specifications, product maintenance, raw materials, and vended products throughout the production process.
  • Promote quality achievement and performance improvement with quality training programs.
  • Formulate, document and monitor their performance to AS9100 Standards through periodic audit scheduling.
  • Support Site in preparation for AS9100 Annual Audit and work with Audit Team during annual audit.
  • Develop and maintain system to ensure that the most current documents are distributed to the floor, training completed, and records maintained.
  • Maintain awareness of business goals and company profitability, including budgetary control issues.
  • Assess product specifications of the company and its suppliers to certify compliance to Customer specifications.
  • Collaborate with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements for external suppliers and continuous compliance.
  • Assist with developing, implementing and enforcing clearly defined quality policies and procedures.
  • Work with QM to analyze quality performance data (COPQ) and develop plans to address gaps, improve, and communicate to employees.
  • Partner with Customers to ensure the execution of corrective action and compliance with Customers’ quality specifications.
  • Monitor quality performance through data collection to produce and present statistical reports.
  • Maintain an active role in product design from inception to execution.
  • Recommend methods, materials, staffing, and layouts for improvements based on manufacturing needs and capabilities.
  • Participate in corporate strategic planning and budgetary processes.
  • Promote and participate in problem solving on the floor to ensure irreversible corrective actions are implemented and followed.
  • Assist with managing the application of Environmental, Health, and Safety standards.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with Customer and company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Comprehension of compliance and enforcement of all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations relating to job duties.
  • Job Requirements

    .Required Skills / Qualifications:
    • Associate’s degree with another 4 years of experience, Bachelor's highly preferred
    • Min 5 years of experience within a metal related manufacturer - min 3 years of experience as a quality engineer within an aerospace or defense manufacturer will suffice.
    • Min 2 years of inspection experience (hands-on)
    • Min 4 years with Microsoft Office
    • Min 3 years of experience with ISO 9001 or 2 years with AS9100
    • Min 2 years of experience involved with ISO audits
    ITAR facility so U.S. persons required (green card ok)
      Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
      Aluminum Brazing experienceExperience in Lean Manufacturing methods
      Experience in Aerospace and Defense work
