Quality Engineer

Job Description



SUMMARY
Maintain and assure the quality of products and components being manufactured and assembled with established standards through the implementation of the QMS and ABS tools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Key member of NQA-1, IOCFRSO APPX. B implementation team to develop a QMS in compliance to Nuclear Industry standards.
2. Audits processes for conformance to Quality Management System requirements.
3. Evaluates data to determine significant sources of quality nonconformance’s and applies proper problem solving techniques to implement corrective actions on the processes
4. Evaluates supplier quality and assists suppliers in their quality improvement activities.
5. Evaluates customer failures and returned goods to determine cause and proposes corrective actions.
6. Mentors hourly quality assurance department associates.
7. Oversees gauge calibration system to ensure compliance with Quality Management System.
8. Evaluates production and quality problems and takes the necessary steps to correct or improve.
9. Determines methods and establishes quality control procedures according to applicable standards.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES include Nuttall Gear hourly quality associates.



QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A four year degree in a related discipline is required with three years experience in quality assurance, preferably in mechanical products. Proven problem solving and root cause analysis skills are required. Additional requirements include one year of supervisory experience, statistical process analysis experience, process mapping skills, computer skills, lean manufacturing experience preferred and experience in gearing and other power transmission products is beneficial.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Auditor a plus
