Job Description

Location:  Choice of Adrian, MI or Troy, MI

Reports directly to the Quality Engineering Manager.

MISSION

  • The Quality Program Engineer (QPE) is responsible to coordinate project quality related tasks and act as the quality representative on the INPro Program respective to internal and external needs, assure successful and on time Product Part Approval Process (PPAP) submission or other Release for Serial Production Procedures to the customer and represent external and internal customer on the platform
  •  Work is performed in a fast paced environment within tight time constraints
  • Travel will be required

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as the Quality Member of the INPro team
  • Establishes and manages program specific quality timeline with Program Manager
  • Manages the establishment and update of internal and external project related quality objective (Quality Dashboard)
  • Coordinates and assures the establishment of all quality relevant tasks within the platform project by:
    • Participating and/or moderating design & process FMEA’s
    • Participating and/or moderating Significant/Critical Characteristics (SC/CC) and Key Product/Control Characteristics (KPC/KCC) selection meetings
    • Definition & support of the project related quality file according to internal & external requirements including control plan for prototypes, pre-serial products and first serial production

ACTIVITIES

  • Coordinates all necessary PPAP related activities (dimensional, testing, homologation) with Product Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer and representative of Plant Quality
  • Coordinates and/or performs internal/external pre-production process audits
  • Analyzes prototype quality with initialization of necessary corrective actions (tolerances, dimensions, production process etc.)
  • Approves in conjunction with respective Process Development Engineer POKA-YOKE devices on prototype and production equipment
  • Establishes the necessary relations with the respective employees at the customer (project related)
  • Identifies and alerts quality risks and deviations within the scope of the project. Has the responsibility and authority to stop production and or program design in the event of Unchangeable violations and quality risks
  • Coaches and guides the platform team members regarding the utilization of quality tools concerning method, capitalization, (including warranty and quality history review) and product standards
  • Prepares and participates on INPro and Advance Product Quality Process or similar reviews
  • Represents Quality during engineering change approval process through SOP
  • Participates on design reviews (platform and project related)
  • Supports Plant Quality Team during launch up to 6 months after SOP
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement and corrective action activities
  • Must successfully complete all INERGY required training
  • Must comply with all work rules, policies and procedures
  • Must comply with all safety rules and regulations
  • Provide support to other positions as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

KEY MEASURES & INDICATORS

  • Min 6 TSV each year
  • Number of program hours
  • Support of Core team Program Launches (i.e. one program for each program launch)
  • Number of Training sessions each year (min one with each plant)
  • Quality Engineering Manager

Job Requirements

PROFILE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or BS in related field
  • 3+ years’ experience working with an automotive manufacturer or Tier 1 automotive supplier in the area of quality or supplier quality preferred
  • MUST be legally able to work in the U.S. without requiring any type of visa sponsorship both now and in the future

Skills and Abilities

  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Basic ability to navigate Internet and Intranet software packages (ADP and any customer related Systems – Powerway, Supply Power, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Must be flexible, dependable and creative
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills (English required)
  • Ability to collect, maintain and analyze data using required Quality Tools
  • Must be able to manage time and determine priorities
  • Works with the project and plant network
  • Applies the Development Process Procedure (INPro)
  • Ability to read and understand measurement and scales
  • Ability to read blueprints; knowledge of GD&T principles
  • PPAP, FMEA, APQP, Control Plan, Measurement Systems Analysis, and Statistical Process Control Knowledge
  • Knowledge of QS/TS requirements and procedures
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and/or Certified Quality Auditor preferred
  • Knowledge of automotive product development required; Fuel Systems preferred
  • Technical Skills with fuel systems development and production knowledge
  • At ease and effective in a matrix, multicultural and fast evolving environment
  • Travel 30% or more – local travel/domestic (Poland, Mexico possible)
