Location               Preference for Davidson, NC , can be remote for the right candidate .

Duration              6 months (could be extended)

Schedule             Typically from 9 to 5 to 8 am to 4 pm.  It is 8 hours a day.

Job Summary

  • The Senior Network Security Engineer role is a leader in the Security Operation group within Enterprise Information Technology Infrastructure organization.  The position reports to the Manager of Security Operations This role supports / delivers the development and implementation of a VPN and B2B security services and delivers protection capabilities and solutions to reduce IT security related risks.  This role is responsible design and implementation of VPN strategies and working directly across multiple teams, management levels, disciplines, technologist, and business groups to enable  approach to risk-based information security program.


Responsibilities:

  • Cisco VPN Specialists must have the expertise of SSL VPN to analyze and troubleshoot issues.
  • Be the subject matter experts related to multiple networks and Endpoint related systems.
  • Serve as the 3rd level security engineer.
  • Requires an expert level of security and networking –strategy, design, implementation, and support. 
  • Supports enterprise level firewall solutions, management and analyzer appliances with a focus on VPN and B2B support.
  • Support Cyber Security, Threat & Vulnerability Management, Identity & Access Management, Network Operation Center, and Cloud services as needed.
  • Document and follow-up on security exceptions relating to IT and property activities that could negatively impact security risks and/or not adhere to established policies, standards, or procedures.
  • Prepare project plans and associated documentation
  • Prepare status reports and other management metrics as needed
  • Accurately identify, evaluate and effectively communicate on IT Security related risks.  Deliver security solutions and recommendations that resonate with the vision, strategy, and direction of the security operations program.
  • Partners closely with other technical and business areas to ensure that security is properly implemented across the enterprise. 


Experience:

  • B.S. degree or equivalent work experience in computer science, engineering, or related discipline or other relevant field with at least 5 years of appropriate experience in IT security or Network Engineering.
  • Proficient in Cisco network security solutions and virtual private network (VPN) configurations. 
  • Experienced in performing programming and scripting tasks.
  • Preferred security certification such as SANS/ GIAC, CompTIA,  Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent required.

 

Capabilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly technical skills and expert security networking experience is a must.
  • Exceptional planning skills a must.
  • Expert knowledge in common regulatory and industry security related requirements such as PCI DSS, NIST, HIPAA, ISO 27001, SSAE16, COBIT, and others.
  • Results-oriented, with demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills; ability to influence and work with across all groups and levels and business groups to develop the most effective approach.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively promote ideas collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Actively engaged in the security industry; equipped with external networking relationships to maintain relevant knowledge of best practices, tactics, strategies and technologies.
