Job Description:Designer/Checker will support multiple programs across the segment to perform engineering drawing checking and process functions. This position will support Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) Checking and Process Group (CPG). In addition to drawing checking, this function will support engineering by developing CAD models for detail design and/or library development purposes. The position will require strong technical communication with designers, leads and supervision. The designer/checker will reduce mechanical drawing preventable design defects by providing effective drawing check services as well as other functions that support the engineering department CAD workflow that achieve standardization and optimization. Apply working knowledge of engineering computer aided design, manufacturing and producibility to interpret engineering drawings. Mark potential engineering drawing defects, as well as suggest methods of improvement, per industry standards and best practices. Perform high rigor check of Model Based Definition (MBD) data sets per ASME Y14 standards. Demonstrate working knowledge of Aerospace and Defense industry common design and drafting standards and best practices. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Aerospace and Defense industry component manufacturing and assembly best practices. This includes and not limited to machined, cast, molded, composite layup inseparable, mechanical and electrical assemblies – production and inspection. Apply ASME Y14 standards knowledge with emphasis on Y14.5 - 2009 and Y14.41 – 2012 to perform high rigor engineering design check. Demonstrate solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to develop and interpret engineering drawings. Perform dimensional tolerance stack analysis based on design Intent, form fit and function. Develop and interpret 3D CAD models using at least one of the following CAD systems – Creo, SolidWorks or Unigraphics. Work with PLM systems to meet CAD data management requirements.
