Senior Structural Engineer

The Senior Structural Engineer utilizes extensive knowledge of building codes and architectural/engineering standards for Arizona, California and Nevada in order to provide a certified seal on drawings.  This role will communicate with both internal and external architects about projects as well as maintain the engineering standards established by Lennar homes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•        Able to work closely with divisions, architects, and engineering staff

•        Coordinate structural design with applicable building codes, architectural plans, geotechnical reports, mechanical plans, civil plans, plumbing layouts and electrical plans provided by others

•        Perform gravity and lateral analysis for wood framed homes and coordinate structural details

•        Perform final review and seals plans, gravity and lateral calculations, truss shop drawings, repair details, and city review responses

•        Develop and maintain engineer standards for the Roos Region

•        Able to communicate in all forms of correspondence for tasks related to projects

•        Communicate effectively; improve company’s ability and knowledge by sharing creative solutions and ideas

•        Attend selected project frame walks

•        Conduct ongoing formal and informal training with team members

•        Serve as a champion of the company’s, mission and vision, and provide leadership to product design team member throughout the region

•        Perform all other duties assigned

Job Requirements

 

Experience / Qualifications

•          Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering

•          Licensed Professional Structural Engineer (SE) or (PE) with five (5) to ten (10) years progressive experience

•          Preferred licensed in Arizona, California and Nevada

•          Valid driver’s license required

•          A minimum of four (4) years’ experience with review and sealing gravity and lateral calculations, final drafted plans, truss shop drawing and field repairs

•          Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (preferred)

•          Self-starter and creative improvisational problem solver

•          Strong organizational skills, including planning, scheduling and follow-up capabilities

•          Anticipate travel to be approximately 10-20% of calendar year

•          Good writing and communication skills

•          Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.)

•          Excellent analytical and writing capabilities

•          Strong communication and interpersonal skills is critical

•          Accept constructive feedback

•          Team player with a strong work ethic

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Requires the ability to work in excess of eight hours per day on occasion, ability to operate a motor vehicle, climb stairs, bend, stoop, reach, sit, and lift (not to exceed 50 pounds).  Finger dexterity required to operate a computer keyboard and a calculator.
