Software Design Supervisor

Job Description

Software Design Supervisor to work in Troy, Michigan: Create detailed software design development plan for automotive industry. Supervise and coordinate activities and daily work assignments with onsite and global offshore software design engineering team. Lead software functional specification analysis and the development of software architecture, module and unit design. Lead software coding and debugging activities. Review and approve software design documentation per the development process. Communicate and coordinate with the software project team. Prepare status reports regarding the software development progress. Conduct meetings. Report and monitor progress. Evaluate training gaps, jointly develop plan to address gaps. Allocate software design resources to programs/projects and negotiate with impacted parties when resource demand exceeds resource availability. Lead analysis of reported issues, ensure timely communication of issue resolution progress. Confirm root cause has been identified, and ensure that the impact of changes has been fully analyzed. Direct/provide field support to company’s Integration and Quality Assurance teams to identify root cause of issues. Support adoption of industry standards related initiatives regarding software development activities. Monitor organizational development processes and ensure they are applied correctly. Follow quality gate processes, submit documentation and attend meetings. Estimate resources, costs and capital to support management in developing budgets. Support the development of the software engineering quotation (effort, cost, schedule) for new business and change requests. Research and implement new tools & technologies to improve efficiencies of the software development processes . Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Electrical and Computer Engineering/Electronic Engineering (or equivalent based on evaluation of academic credentials, training and/or experience) as well as sixty (60) months in job or job related progressive experience to include create detailed software design development plan for automotive industry; supervise and coordinate activities and daily work assignments with onsite software design engineering team; lead software functional specification analysis and the development of software architecture, module and unit design; lead software coding and debugging activities; review and approve software design documentation per the development process; communicate and coordinate with the software project team; prepare status reports regarding the software development progress; conduct meetings; report and monitor progress; evaluate training gaps, jointly develop plan to address gaps; allocate software design resources to programs/projects and negotiate with impacted parties when resource demand exceeds resource availability.
