Software Test Engineer

Job Description

Infoscitex, a DCS company, is seeking a Test Engineer to join our team in St. Louis, Mo.  In this Test Engineer role, you will play an important part in our product development process, monitoring all stages of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards. 

As a member of our team supporting technologies research and military utility analysis you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, with state of the art simulation technologies, simulation integration experts, and military Subject Matter Experts (SME). This work focuses on conducting capability assessments for emerging technologies, DOD force structure, and ensuring related tools and methodologies are suitable for DoD Decision Support Systems. Infoscitex (IST) is an employee owned organization with a reputation for agile and efficient development of technology solutions for U.S. Defense, Aerospace, Human Factors, and Security markets. Essential Job Functions:

As this Test Engineer, you could expect to:

Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback

Create and maintain detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases

Document test results

Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities

Design, develop and execute automation scripts using open source tools

Identify, record, track, document software bugs found during testing

Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved

Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs

Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements

Ensure communication of test results and status to project stakeholders

Identify high risk areas and focus test efforts accordingly

Monitor debugging process results

Investigate the causes of non-conforming software

Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts

Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies

Some intermittent short term travel may be requested

Requirements:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required

At least a BS degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline and at least 2 years of related analysis experience. (We have multiple levels associated with this opportunity candidates with advanced degrees or varying experience may be considered for alternative classification).

Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information: eligible to attain a Secret level U.S. DoD security clearance

Experience writing test plans and test cases from scratch using requirements documents, functional specifications, use cases, and/or design documents

Proven work experience in software development

Proven work experience in software quality assurance

Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes

Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases

Hands-on experience with automated testing tools

Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting

Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process

Ability to travel, if needed

Although not firm requirements for consideration, we feel an ideal candidate may bring the following:

MS or PhD in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related technical discipline

Active U.S. DoD security clearance, Secret or higher

Experience with C++ and Git/GitLab

Experience with Agile development methodologies

Experience with modeling and simulation performance

Security testing experience

Experience with Modeling & Simulation (M&S) environments (constructive and virtual) and/or Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) concepts

Familiarity with modern military systems, both foreign and domestic
