Sr. Analyst, Financial Risk Management

Basic Function


Provides support to the Company's Financial Risk Management (FRM) functions by identifying, prioritizing, and reporting market risks. Partners with the business leadership teams to assess identified risks and aids in their mitigation. Promotes a culture of transparent risk awareness across management, business units and corporate staffs.




Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supports Financial Risk Management team in the assessment and analysis of financial risks, development of strategies for mitigating risks, and preparing recommendations to Business Units for managing risk.
  • Supports Senior Manager in preparation of reporting around Lost Profit Opportunities, Loss Avoidance Opportunities, and Gained Profit Opportunities, which is a key output of the FRM function.
  • Assist in assessment and analysis of financial risks related to large capital projects.
  • Supports FRM Team in the development of tools, models, practices, and processes to analyze, manage, and standardize risk management and reporting.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends by attending seminars, training sessions, and workshops, as necessary to develop and ensure success of the Company's FRM program.
  • Serves as main contact for derivatives brokers and traders regarding middle and back office commodity trading activity.
  • Calculates the daily gain/loss on futures contracts (market- to-market), and coordinates with Treasury Cash Operations team when collateral is required.
  • May at times be called upon to execute front office commodity derivatives transactions.
  • Coordinates with the accounting and audit teams to ensure accurate client financial reporting.
  • Prepares and presents weekly risk report for Business Representatives, providing insight into the latest and most relevant risks to the Company.
  • Maintains Government compliance as well as regulatory reporting for commodity derivatives for SOX, Dodd-Frank and FIA-TECH requirements.


Min. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Engineering or other related field.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in risk management, finance and/or commercial business, including experience in risk analysis related to commodity markets.
  • Strong inter-personal skills, collaborative, and focused on relationship-building.
  • Demonstrated risk and data analytics skills including statistics and monte-carlo techniques.
  • PC skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI and relational database concepts.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a company that operates internationally and is impacted by commodity price risk preferred.
  • Well-versed in global oil and gas markets, including petrochemical and refining operations preferred.
  • Seasoned in utilizing numerous third party market platforms including ICE, CME, MarketView, Bloomberg, S&P Global, IHS, Banking Platforms, etc. preferred.
