Infoscitex (IST), a DCS company, has an opportunity for an experienced Cloud Engineer to support an extensive modeling and simulation development effort in Columbus, OH. Our team is developing software for the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM).

AFSIM is a U.S. Air Force simulation environment written in C++ and utilized for engagement-level and mission-level analysis by military operations research analysts to evaluate combat effectiveness of advanced weapon system concepts. AFSIM is a Monte Carlo simulation tool which may be run either constructively to generate analytic results, or in real-time to support Operator in the Loop (OITL) experimentation and war-gaming needs. AFSIM is now becoming accepted as a standard operations analysis tool across DoD and industry.
Essential Job Functions:
In this role, you will be involved in moving AFSIM to the cloud and establishing Modeling & Simulation as a Service (M&SaaS).
As a member of the larger software development community and in collaboration with colleagues, you can expect to:
Evaluate AFSIM applications for cloud compatibility to identify improvement opportunities and options.
Participate in optimizing/refactoring/re-architecting AFSIM applications to reap the benefits of the cloud environment.
Understand and evaluate AFSIM user workflows with respect to cloud-based execution and pursue improvements.
Investigate/recommend/implement cloud-based data management for AFSIM inputs and outputs.
Identify and establish AFSIM execution monitoring and user feedback enhancements to support M&SaaS.
Train colleagues in cloud technologies and their implications for AFSIM.
Maintain reference cloud architecture documentation for various AFSIM use cases.
Design/develop/test/deploy simulation software, including mathematical and physics based algorithms and graphical user interfaces and visualization.
Apply software best practices (software development processes, version control, documentation, etc.) for all developed and modified software.
Interact with government and industry customers to define requirements, discuss options and report progress.
Occasional short-term travel may be necessary.
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
The successful applicant will be subject to a U.S. Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information: ability to attain at least a Secret level DoD security clearance.
At least a BS degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related technical discipline and at least 12 years of related experience.

Significant experience developing object-oriented software using programming languages such as C++, C#, or Java.
Proven cloud experience relevant to the essential job functions above.
Ability to work well in team-oriented environments.
Ability to travel as needed.
C++ development experience.
Development experience on both Linux and Windows platforms.
Experience with container technologies such as Docker/Moby and Kubernetes.
Experience with continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) that includes cloud deployments.
Security certification satisfying IAT Level II or higher.
