Sr. Sales Engineer

Job Description

Job Purpose:

Responsible for technical and business requirements, discovery, proposal preparation support and technical presentations to customers for Securus’ full suite of products and solutions. Serves as account team technical lead for: solution design / engineering / consulting and proactively leverages other resources within the organization as needed to address customer technology needs.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Support with solution selling into prospects and current account base
  • Partner with sales to plan, prepare and execute on strategic deals in complex sales cycles
  • Create technical design for complex sales opportunities
  • Successfully match customer pain/requirements to proposed solutions
  • Create and deliver powerful presentations and demos that clearly communicate the uniqueness of the value proposition and differentiate our offer vs a competitor
  • Provide technical input to RFP/RFI responses including how systems integrate into customer environment
  • Effectively communicate client needs to the R&D teams for future product enhancements
  • Advisor to Sales Engineering team
  • Collect and document competitive intelligence
  • Provide product, systems, and technical training to new and existing Sales Engineering associates on an as needed basis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capability of effective planning and priority setting.
  • Ability to forge strong, long-lasting relationships with Sales Executives
  • Ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy to understand manner
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
  • Excellent presentation and creativity skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • Knowledge of PSTN protocols and transports (PRI, ISDN, DS1, DS3, DSL)
  • Security and WAN technologies
  • Unified Communications (Voice and VoIP) technologies and products, customer premises communication (data, video, voice) equipment
  • Consultative selling and customer questioning techniques in order to identify new opportunities to sell within existing accounts and maintain the role of trusted advisor to both the customer and the sales team
  • Effective presentation, analytical, communications and customer relationship skills
  • Proficiency with MS PowerPoint and Visio
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously on multiple projects and associated deliverables
  • Time management skills are a critical requirement


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education
  • 10 + years of experience in sales engineering, systems engineering (Cloud, Hosting, Managed Services, Networking Services, Telephony, IP Networking Equipment), and/or sales
  • Experience as a Sales Engineer in Technology and Software Sales
  • Experience with the following:
  • Managed Hosted Services, infrastructure solutions, networking technologies
  • System integrations
  • IP routing and switching, Internet, MPLS and Broadband architecture

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry leading certifications preferred (Cisco, Adtran and others)
  • Experience in selling technology to government agencies
  • Experience internetworking designs and their applications, to include Hosted Services, Cloud, Virtualization, Infrastructure Solutions, Specialized Enterprise Application Suites, IP Subnetting and Complex Routing Techniques on LAN/WAN networks, IP Telephony, Security, Network Diversity Applications and other technical skills

Physical Requirements:
