Sr Pre Sales Engineer

Job Description

The client is looking to add a Sales Engineer to our Intelligent Technology Solutions team. The Sales Engineer will be a member of the Pre-Sales Engineering Team. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical sales support to My client’s account team.
 A successful Sales Engineer should be able to present and explain various network infrastructure technologies (LAN/WAN, Data Center Switching, Security, SD-WAN) to customers, guide them through requirements gathering, and formulate a solution consisting of hardware, software, licensing, and engineering services. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and understanding of enterprise class solutions from partners such as Cisco, F5, Arista, Palo Alto, VMware and other network infrastructure manufacturers. Candidates must have a solid understanding of network design principles based on industry best practices. Professional technical writing skills are a must for the successful Sales Engineer. Candidates will need to demonstrate a high level of design expertise, be highly motivated about learning new products and technologies, be able to effectively communicate with customers (both verbally and in writing), ensure superior customer service, and maintain strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

• Provide sales support and solution expertise on qualified opportunities including all managed service offerings specific to the practice
• Establish credibility and trusted advisor status with My client’s sales team and customers
• Conduct customer facing presentations on My client’s core competencies and technical solution offerings for assigned accounts and focus areas
• Assist sales team with overall account planning as it relates to technical aspects of hardware, software, and services opportunity qualification and development
• Complete and author technical sections for RFP/RFI/RFQ responses
• Assist sales team with identifying and capturing customer business and technical requirements during the sales cycle and determining My client’s recommended solution
• Develop and finalize solution architecture/design and detailed line item configurations and/or bill-of-materials (BOMs)
• Develop and finalize solution proposal and/or presentation of recommended solutions including Enterprise Networking, Cloud (Hybrid & Public), Data Center (Storage, Compute, Backup) and Security
• Lead technical scoping/reviews with sales team and customers for Statement of Work (SOW) generation, planning and designing solutions for complex multi vendor solutions (i.e. Cisco, Arista, F5, HPE)
• Function as a subject matter expert (SME) for customer technical staff regarding proposed solution and its design, configuration, implementation, and testing specifics
• Function as technical liaison and My client’s ambassador with field OEM channel sales and technical teams • Assist sales team with mentoring of junior account managers as it relates to overall opportunity management and technical solution set
• Continually stay up to date on the latest OEM technical solutions, capabilities, roadmaps • Assist sales team in dealing with customer satisfaction issues surrounding technical aspects or approach of a recommended solution
• Complete training and maintain OEM certification(s) as requested and approved by management, in accordance with assigned focus area •
 Be proactive in highlighting and suggesting areas for improvement in the regional procedures, structure, reporting, etc.
• Propose ideas and solutions to help improve functional areas
• Participate in weekly pre sales engineering conference calls
• Review current pipeline and forecast potential revenue, win probability, and estimated date of completion, on a weekly basis
• Complete administrative tasks (expenses, time reporting, pipeline) in a timely fashion Qualifications
• 6 years technical, business and/or sales experience
• Technical / Sales experience with the Cross-Architecture solutions (Security, Enterprise Networking, Data Centre– Cisco or other vendor solutions
• Executive level communication and presentation skills, including value messaging
• CCIE or Equivalent Experience preferred Technical Acumen
• Understand internetworking industry trends, including new products and solutions
• Understand competitive product and solution landscape
• Advanced knowledge in Routing, Switching, Datacenter, Security
• Advanced knowledge in Networking Platform Design
• Excellent technical consulting skills, including ability to define trade-offs, ask probing questions, and incorporate My client’s/OEM solutions into a broader technology environment
• Proactively share information about common replicable architectures that are most appropriate for assigned customers
