Job Title:  Structures Engineering Co-op

Department:  Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering

Days:  Monday - Friday                             Hours per Week:  40

Hours:  8:30am - 5:00pm

Flex Time:  No

Rotating Shifts:  No

Travel:  No

Job Freeze:  No

Work Location:  Air Group Building / Air Park

Work Environment:  Majority of work will be in an office environment. The position will require observations in the field during UPS operations in warehouse and outdoor (ramp) environments.

Job Summary:  Structures Engineering Co-Op is responsible for supporting daily engineering tasks. This Co-Op program requires THREE semesters of support of Aircraft Engineering. The position is scheduled for Fall 2020, Summer 2021 and Spring 2022. Candidate is expected to commit to all three semesters.

Job Description:  Structures Engineering Co-Op is responsible for supporting engineers in resolution of aircraft maintenance and reliability items. This includes researching technical issues, authoring Engineering Orders, preparing CAD drawings, analyzing data, performing basic stress analysis, and contributing to engineering projects. Co-Op must have strong mechanical background with an aptitude for hands-on projects and technical writing, the ability to communicate clearly, and work well with others in a team environment.

Required Skills: Ideal candidate will be an engineering student interested in gaining one year of practical experience. Student should have completed coursework pertaining to Statics and Computer Aided Design (CAD). Student should be well-versed in Microsoft Office products.

Additional Skills:  Knowledge of UPS operations or business. Effective analysis skills. Effective research and communication skills.

Interpersonal Skills:  Strong analytical and problem solving skills; able to work within a group. Possesses integrity and accountability. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, goal and detail oriented, resourceful with an interest in problem solving, focused on customer service and a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
