Supervisor, Network Operations Center

Job Description

Job Purpose:

Supervise Network Operations Center (NOC) technicians to effectively monitor the company’s systems, infrastructure and core applications. The position will work to ensure NOC technician duties are performed as defined to meet service level agreements and clearly defined corporate goals for platform availability.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Monitor the company’s infrastructure and core applications in an effective manner
  • Provide direct supervision of NOC technicians to ensure assigned duties are completed in an timely manner
  • Maintain NOC Technician scheduling to ensure appropriate shift coverage in a 24x7 environment
  • Ensure defined NOC notification and escalation procedures are followed
  • Act as an escalation point for NOC Technicians as well as internal and external groups.
  • Review NOC trouble tickets and reporting for accuracy
  • Provide incident triage and manage incidents to resolution
  • Create new NOC standard operating procedures and review existing procedures for accuracy as required
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with NOC technicians to communicate departmental goals and provide regular feedback of individual NOC Technician performance
  • Complete effective performance evaluations; mentor NOC Technicians regarding career development plans
  • Compile ongoing metrics related to key performance objectives and service levels

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong technical background in application, systems or network support
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment where multitasking is the norm
  • Must be able to work a mid-shift schedule ( example: 1pm - 10pm)
  • Must be able to work a rotating schedule for afterhours support, including weekends, evening and holidays


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS Degree or applicable job experience / qualifications
  • 3 consecutive years of supervisory/managerial experience in an IT Operations, Application, Systems or Network support environment, with an emphasis on monitoring
  • 2 consecutive years of hands-on experience as an IT Systems or IT Network administrator
  • Experience using an Enterprise level monitoring solution such as SolarWinds, Zabbix, or similar product

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent (within the past 2 years) industry related certifications in areas such Linux, Microsoft, Cisco, or CompTIA
  • Experience with SolarWinds Orion suite of monitoring products
  • Experience working in mid to large size IT Operations environment

Physical Requirements:

Standing, sitting, walking, speaking, listening, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and manipulating tools, typing, using peripheral computer tools.  May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.  It is the Company’s policy to provide equal employment opportunity to all individuals.
