Systems Administrator

Security Clearance Required: Fully Adjudicated Secret

Position Summary: The Systems Administrator provides Tier I, II or III production engineering support to the Navy Surface Warfare Center as part of the Epsilon Quality Assurance Team. Provides support to Windows, Linux, and other various system architectures. Reviews, or updates documentation and assists with installations, integration, and migrations.

Summary of Position Responsibilities:
  • Perform STIG checklist against the system components (Complete .ckl files)
  • Implement the Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for installed products.
  • Audit system for baseline configuration settings (SCAP, or manual review)
  • Perform IAVM remediation actions (ACAS scan and review)
  • Perform vulnerability Scans on the system/s (ACAS, SCAP, and STIG)
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for admin tasks or function tests
  • Review or develop policy for the system layout or initial development
  • Capable of configuring and navigating a system in order to retrieve data or modify to meet specified parameters
  • Report to a team lead via assigned taskers
  • Identify non-compliant systems and servers in ACAS and patch and/or update POA&M as required.
  • Troubleshoot issues at a Tier 2/3 level.
Essential Skills, Experience, and Certifications:
  • US Citizenship is a requirement of this position in accordance with 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(2)(C)
  • Must have a DOD 8570 compliant certification (IAT Level II or Higher), such as Security+ CE, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA Security, CASP, CISSP, etc.
  • ACAS Certification is required, if not in compliance at hire date, must obtain certification within 90 days of Hire.
  • Preferred DoD Required Certs per the System worked: 
    • MCT, MCSA, MCSE, MSNP, MCITP, MCTS, RHCSA, RHCSE, A+, Network+, Server+, Linux+, VCP, OCA, OCP, CDMP, CCNA, CCNP, or CPC.
      • or be able to obtain one of the above certifications with in 90 days of hire.
  • System admin area of expertise, knowledge base, or exposure in the following:
    • Windows Operating Systems: Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008 /R2, Windows Server 2012 /R2, Windows Server 2016. 
    • Linux Operating Systems: RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu
    • Unix Operation Systems: Solaris, HP-UX
    • Virtual Software: VMWare (ESXi, vSphere, vCenter), VM Player, Oracle VM
    • Network Components: Switches, Routers (Cisco, Linux, NetGear, Etc)
    • Develop/Review Code: C++, Python, HTML, SQL, JAVA, Visual Basic, VB.NET, CSS, PHP,  ASP.Net, Etc
    • Database; Oracle up to 12c, SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB
  • Strong team player; self-assured, confident, and goal-oriented.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and delegate effectively.
  • Ability to solve problems and translate policies into daily routine operations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Technology industry.

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, this position requires the ability to sit for potentially long periods of time throughout the workday. Hearing sufficient to understand conversations, both in person and on the telephone. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components for potentially long periods of time without experiencing abnormal hand, wrist, or eye strain. Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings. Lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work Environment: Includes a typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, including exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather conditions, and occasional environmental hazards. Local, regional, and national travel may be required.
