  • The System Administrator (Sys Admin) is responsible for provisioning the system, managing the virtual environments (VM), and installing and configuring the Linux based Red Hat Operating System. The Sys Admin will also monitor and maintain the system hardware performance. The position ensures that system hardware, software, and related procedures adhere to the system’s design and architecture. This individual will manage system access user accounts and develop the procedures for system configuration to support production builds.
  • This individual will also assist program teams with technical analysis, and support the testing and roll-out of new patches. Participation on programs focus on smoothing the transition from system development to operational readiness within the program’s life-cycle.
  • Performs software installations and upgrades to RedHat operating systems and layered software packages and maintains them in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.
  • Administers assigned Enterprise systems such as enterprise data storage administration (EMC/NetApp), enterprise server virtualization (VMWare) to ensure systems are functioning properly.
Qualifications:
  •  BS/BA (or equivalent) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of systems administration experience (preferably in RedHat).
  •  Systems Administration / Systems Engineering certification(s) in RedHat (RHCE, RHCT, RHCSA).
  • Understanding and/or experience with the following: RedHat Linux – Basic Network concepts, Linux kickstarts, Server installation. Minimum of 4 years of experience with CentOS, including upgrades from 6 to 7, (or RHEL).
  • Minimum of 4 years of Linux operating system security configuration.
  • Minimum of 4 years of RPM builds for software packages.

Job Requirements

Preferred Additional Skills: • Familiarity with details of operating system network configuration. • Ability to perform complex infrastructure design, including planning of interactions of multiple applications (HA, DB, Large Networks), is a plus. • Knowledge of scripting for automation of tools is preferred. • Knowledge of lab infrastructure: power requirements, datacenter build-out experience, how to harden a lab. • Knowledge of Python scripting skills. • Experience with the following is preferred: o Splunk o RHEL - SMB, NFS, SELinux o Zabbix o Mysql o Solaris and Sun hardware o VMWare ESXi experience o Veritas
