This position requires an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, as well as configuration and setup of network servers, switches and routers for the agency’s LAN and WANs. Requires knowledge of Cisco and other brand communication devices, Internet configuration and programming. Responsibilities include planning, implementing and maintaining communications for agency personnel and remote locations; designing and implementing modifications/updates to the MDOC network. Administrative functions include evaluating and selecting network hardware and software, monitoring the network to predict future needs, and providing oversight and technical support to agency network and helpdesk staff. This position has responsibility for reviewing the State Security Policies and the MDOC security policies to ensure compliance through regular monitoring and review of operations; reviewing annual and semi-annual security audit reports for areas of vulnerability; take corrective actions to resolve immediate concerns and put measures in place to mitigate future occurrences.
