Technology and Automation Manager

.TECT is one of the world's leading producers of critical rotating components of turbine engines for aviation, industrial and military applications. TECT Power's Santa Fe Springs facility specializes in highly complex precision machined blisks, IBRs, impellers, diffusers and other components in metals including titanium, Inconel and aluminum.
We have an immediate opening for a Technology and Automation Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: The Technology and Automation Manager is responsible for coordinating all automation and technology initiatives of the business. He/She is also responsible for the maintenance and expected high performance of all technological equipment coordinating 3rd parties’ suppliers. Incumbent takes responsibility for interpreting, planning, organizing, executing, coordinating, and tracking progress of automation and robotics projects for the materials and technology group. Also provides expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of products, processes, plans and procedures relating to automation and robotics. Plans and directs automation and robotics projects concerned with unique and diverse problems which have an important effect on major programs or products within the company. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches. Plans, supervises, coordinates, and monitors the work of a staff of engineers and technicians; estimates manpower needs; and schedules and assigns work to meet completion dateESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
  • Maintains the daily administration of the automation software production environment scheduling processes, monitoring resources, etc.
  • Provides technical support to customers
  • Must demonstrate proficiency with Allen Bradley PLCs and RSLogix 5000, 500
  • Must have working experience and knowledge of Omron/Mitsubishi/Siemens PLCs, Vision systems, and robotics
  • Must possess strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communications systems
  • Solution proposal focusing on scalability and extensibility
  • Assists with quoting projects
  • Involved in setting strategic direction to establish goals
  • Manages teams and/or work efforts
  • Ensuring quality and on-time delivery in all assigned work
  • Work in a team environment and demonstrate a culture of teamwork, respect, cooperation and integrity.
  • Works with teams in the identification of business requirements, functional design, process design, prototyping testing, defining support procedures
  • Formulate planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting strategies
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships
  • Support troubleshooting on complex machine breakdown and low performances.
  • Meet budgetary costs for technology equipment maintenance

  • A.S. or B.S. in Industrial Automation, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in motion control/automation
  • Proficient use of engineering software such as AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Electrical, Inventor, SolidWorks, and standard software such as Word and Excel
  • Self-Motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a team or individual setting
  • Demonstrated organization skills to assimilate information provided by coworkers, clients, suppliers, and outside organizations
  • Ability to convey technical information to members of management, coworkers, and clients
  • Provide a positive interaction with customers while representing Pillar Innovations
  • Aptitude for problem solving
  • Experience in a production support capacity
  • Knowledge of business operations
  • Ability to lead change, eliminate waste, drive process improvement required
  • Passion, energy, sense of urgency with strong project management skills with ability to manage priorities and achieve results required
  • Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings/specifications and manufacturing processes required.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with leadership skills and growth potential required.
  • Excellent computer skills (eg MSOffice, ERP systems, CAD/CAM software, etc)
