Work Environment: Fast paced work environment. Programmer frequently works independently. Will also act as liaison with the full-time Strategic Communications web programmer and Employee Communications management team.
Job Summary: The position will be an entry level programming co-op that will work primarily with AirUPSers.com, a secure website targeted to UPS flight crewmembers, flight trainers and other flight support groups. Candidate will maintain and develop tools and features for the website. Will work closely with a variety of groups to implement applications supporting UPS Flight Operations and Flight Training with a focus on critical safety communications.
Job Description: The Web Developer co-op gathers customer requirements, designs solutions, conducts User Acceptance testing and implements the approved solutions. The ideal candidate will: develop code predominately in .NET programming and Cold Fusion, document existing code, manage site security and program enhancements as requested by site owners and customers. Additionally, he/she will design and create special features and special sections in cooperation with the web developer. He or she also will be responsible for ensuring web application security by researching, devising and implementing security solutions. The co-op, in partnership with the lead developer, will work directly with employees from all levels throughout the company.
Required Skills: Candidate must have acquired a minimum of 60 college credit hours. Proficient in .NET programming and familiar with Cold Fusion. Strong understanding of web design; web security; HTML5; SQL. Familiarity with emerging web technologies.
Additional Skills: iOS and mobile app development. UPS operations and/or aviation experience helps. Knowledge of UPS technology environment is a plus.
Interpersonal Skills: Ideal candidate must be a problem solver and self-starter and work well with minimal supervision. Patience and flexibility are essential. He or she should also be comfortable speaking with management of all levels.
