Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities
The Engineer is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and profitability of each project assigned. The Engineer works with the Director of Engineering in establishing the project design criteria and the development of design concepts which are incorporated into a final product in conjunction with the work of other architects, engineers and technicians. In consultation with the Director of Engineering, the Engineer is responsible for planning and conducting work requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.

The Engineer may function in the role of project manager. As such, core responsibilities may include:
- Assisting the Director of Engineering in developing project many-hours and planning schedule for his/her phases of the project.
- Coordinating detailed phases of professional work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
- Coordinating the layout, design, drafting and specifications produced by other architects, designers, engineers and technicians who assist in specific assignments.

Through research, study, and consultation with outside consultants and professional societies, the Engineer is expected to keep informed of new developments and systems as they influence the Project Engineer's particular field of engineering practice and design.

While each employee ultimately reports to and takes direction from senior staff, all employees are encouraged to contribute to the design process. Our staff seeks proactively to support each other in the generation of good design concepts, clear construction documents and meeting deadlines. Organized employees showing initiative and a team oriented approach will have the opportunity to increase their level responsibility.

Education
Accredited professional degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)

Certifications
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana is preferred.

Experience
Work Experience: Minimum of one- three years of work experience as a Mechanical Engineer working in the field of commercial building design. MEP Industry Expeirnce.
Software Experience: Revit and AutoCAD are required; Trane Trace is strongly preferred.
